The Debt Dance

Poetic Trilogy: Reading Power — Article II

Debt is a bridge, both fragile and required,

It bears our dreams, yet builds the walls we've wired.

It feeds tomorrow with a generous hand,

While gripping tight with rules we must withstand.

A tool of power for those who learn its way,

A crushing weight for those who let it sway.

It's water turning wheels with steady might,

Or waves that break the dam and flood the night.

To ignore its dance is yielding up the helm,

To drift without a course, by labor overwhelmed.

But reading its laws forges freedom's key

That opens tomorrow and sets the captive free.
